The third episode of House of the Dragon, “Second of His Name,” ought to proceed. King Viserys (Paddy Considine) may have named young Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) as his heir, but after his decision to remarry, her position may change.
He will probably have more children with his second wife, Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey), including perhaps the son he has always wanted. It is obvious that many of Westeros’ lords would favor a male successor. Additionally, we wouldn’t rule out Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), the cunning Hand of the King, pushing for his grandchild to occupy the Iron Throne.

PLOT

Prince Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon have joined forces in an effort to depose King Viserys, or at the at least, to cause enough regional unrest to shake the royal family’s convictions. A real Game of Thrones episode wouldn’t be complete without a bloody combat, with Craghas Drahar (Daniel Scott-Smith), the enigmatic Crabfeeder, and his Stepstone Islands tribe receiving the scorched end from a fire-spewing dragon this time.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Sapochnik’s decision to go on to new projects is the result of his lengthy involvement with both the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon series. The sole showrunner for the series will now be Ryan Condal, who also co-created House of the Dragon with author George R.R. Martin. Condal will continue to collaborate with Martin on the series.

Another Game of Thrones veteran, director Alan Taylor, has been brought on board to helm several episodes of the second season of the program in addition to serving as executive producer.

On Sunday, September 4, Episode 3 will air on HBO and HBO Max, the network’s streaming service
