Where is Andor in Star Wars? (spoilers)

Andor dies at the end of the film, along with his team, after going on a rogue mission to steal the structural plans for the Death Star to give the Rebellion a chance at destroying the planet-killing weapon. Yes, those Death Star plans. “Andor” is Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) origin story.

Andor acknowledges Cassian’s fate with a line so overt that it can’t even be considered an Easter egg. Those who have seen Rogue One know how part of this story ends, and Andor doesn’t rely on us forgetting that. However, that directness, and the way it unapologetically rejects the nostalgic ennui that has long defined this franchise, make Andor better.

Episodes

The first 12-episode season will follow Cassian for a year, namely the year before he decided to join Rogue One. At the TCA press conference, Gilroy declared, “I’m going to challenge everything you think about Cassian.”
